The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization tasked with maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations, achieving international co-operation, and being a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations. It was established in the year 1945 on October 24th. Its headquarters are in NewYork, US. India is one of the founder countries along with US, Venezuela, Australia, Brazil, Canada, UK, France, etc... in 1945 before Independence itself.

In 1887 Congress passed the Interstate Commerce Act, making the railroads the first industry subject to Federal regulation. Congress passed the law largely in response to public demand that railroad operations be regulated.
