You will get the answer in the riddle itself, if you read the riddle carefully.

The riddle says "A cowboy arrives in town on Friday." So Friday is the name of the horse on which he comes. Hence, the only possibility is he arrives on the horse friday on Tuesday, stays for 3 days and leaves on the same horse on Friday. 

Average speed = Total distance / Total time.

Total distance traveled by Joel = Distance covered in the first 3 hours + Distance covered in the next 5 hours.

Distance covered in the first 3 hours = 3 x 60 = 180 miles
Distance covered in the next 5 hours = 5 x 24 = 120 miles

Therefore, total distance traveled = 180 + 120 = 300 miles.

Total time taken = 3 + 5 = 8 hours.

Average speed = 300/8 = 37.5 mph.

we know that 1 mile = 1.6 kms

=> 37.5 miles = 37.5 x 1.6 = 60 kms

Average speed in Kmph = 60 kmph.

Let the present age's of mother be 'M' and that of her son be 'S'.

According to the given data in the question,

M - 5 = 3(S - 5)

F - 3S = -10  ...............(1)

Then given ,

M + 5 : S + 5 = 11 : 5 

=> 5M - 11S = 30 ..............(2)

From (1) & (2), we get

S = 20

Then by substituting S = 20 in (1) or (2), we get

M = 50.

Hence, the present age of mother is M = 50 years.

10% profit at half plot = 600000/2 x 10/100 = Rs. 30,000

15% profit at remaining half plot = 600000/2 x 15/100 = Rs. 45,000

Now, total profit = 30000 + 45000 = 75000

Profit % = 75000/600000 x 100 = 12.5 %

In the given puzzle, the logic is the product of the number and its preceeding number gives the result.

9 = 9 x 8 = 72

8 = 8 x 7 = 56

7 = 7 x 6 = 42

6 = 6 x 5 = 30

5 = 5 x 4 = 20

Similarly,

3 = 3 x 2 = 6.
