Why Water Is Not an Element :

An element is a substance consisting of only one type of atom. Water consists of two types of atoms: hydrogen and oxygen.

water is both a molecule and a compound :

A compound forms whenever two or more atoms form chemical bonds with each other. The chemical formula for water is H2O, which means each molecule of water consists of one oxygen atom chemically bonded to two hydrogen atoms.

Thus, water is a compound.

It's also a molecule, which is any chemical species formed by two or more atoms chemically bonded to each other. The terms molecule and compound mean the same thing and can be used interchangeably.

Hence, water is both a molecule and a compound.

In a chemical reaction, substances (elements or compounds) called reactants are changed into other substances (compounds or elements) called products. Hence, reactants are those which start the chemical reaction.

For example:

1. In the burning of natural gas, methane (CH4) and oxygen (O2) are the reactants in the chemical reaction. are the substances formed by a chemical reaction. In the burning of natural gas, carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) are the products formed by the reaction.

2. H2+O2 ----> H2O

Here H2 & O2 are called Reactants and H2O is called Product.

Both the floor and the carpet have the same temperature as both are exposed to the same atmosphere. But the former conducts away the heat from the feet better than the carpet as the latter is a non-conductor. So the feet losing more heat, the floor appears cooler to the feet.
