Facilitate means assist someone in their progress or work. Here Help is the only word which is similar in meaning with facilitate. Halt and check are antonyms i.e opposite in meaning of facilitate. 

Hence, facilitate is similar in meaning to help.

If I am chosen for this position, I’ll use my first 30 days in understanding my role carefully in terms of the contribution to the industry and increasing the overall profitability. That would depend on what kind of a rapport I had with him. If I felt comfortable, I would probably mention that being rude is probably going to be bad for him in the long run, since unhappy customers reflect badly on the sales associate. Otherwise, I would mention to the supervisor what I had witnessed, and let him handle it.
