Quantitative Aptitude - Arithmetic Ability Questions

Let the numbers be x, x + 1, x + 2,  x + 3, x + 4, x + 5 and x + 6,

Then   (x + (x + 1) + (x + 2) + (x + 3) + (x + 4) + (x + 5) + (x + 6)) / 7 = 20.

or  7x + 21 = 140 or 7x = 119 or x =17.

Latest number = x + 6 = 23.

a+b=5   ...(1)    and    3a+2b=20 ...(2)

Multiplying (1) by 2 and subtracting from (2), we get : a=10.

Putting a=10 in (1), we get : b=-5

Therefore,   (3a+b) = 3 x 10+(-5)=30-5=25.

Here the given number series is 6, 3, 3, 4.5, 10

The odd one in the given series is 10

The pattern it follows is

6 x 0.5 = 3

3 x  1  = 3

3 x 1.5 = 4.5

4.5 x 2 = 9
