Aptitude and Reasoning Questions

Q:

If in an A.P series 18th term is 29 and 29th term is 18. Then find the 49th term ?

A) -3 B) -2
C) 0 D) 1

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) -2

Explanation:

We know that in A.P series
18th term = a + 17d
29th term = a + 28d
But given
a + 17d = 29..........(i)
a + 28d = 18......... (ii)
Solving equation (i) and (ii), we get
d = -1
put d = -1 in any of the above equations and we get,
a = 46
Now, we know 49th term can be written as, a + 48d
putting the value of a and d in the above equation,
a + 48d = 46 + 48(-1)
= 46 - 48
= -2

Hence, the 49th term is -2.

A) 1,3,9 ; 2,5,6 ; 4,7,8 B) 1,3,9 ; 2,7,8 ; 4,5,6
C) 1,2,4 ; 3,5,7 ; 6,8,9 D) 1,3,6 ; 2,4,8 ; 5,7,9

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) 1,3,9 ; 2,5,6 ; 4,7,8

Explanation:

1,3,9 have one element placed inside a different element.

2,5,6 contain two mutually perpendicular lines dividing the figure into four parts.

Q:

If the mean of m observations out of n observations is n and the mean of remaining observations is m, then what is the mean of all n observations?

A) 2m –m^2/n B) 2m –m/n
C) 2m D) 2m –m

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) 2m –m^2/n

Explanation:

Mean of m observations is n

Mean of n-m observations is m

So total = nm+ (n-m)m

Total observations = n

Mean = Total / Total observations = (2mn-m^2)/n = 2m –m^2/n
