Absolute value of a number :

It means that the distance of a number from 0 on a number line. 

Here absolute value of 9 is that on a number line 9 is 9 units away from 0. Hence its absolute value is 9. Similarly, absolute value of -9 means -9 is also 9 units away from the 0 on number line. Hence, absolute value of -9 is also 9.

Hence, the absolute value of 9 is 9.

Indeterminate are those,which mathematics can’t determine.

Because we don’t actually know which one is the exact answer for this due to having lots of results for this.

• Let us think by this analogy that,

0 / 1 = 0

0 / 2 = 0

we can say 0 / n = 0 from this we can write, 0/0 = 0

• Again, another analogy,(from limiting concept of 1/0 = infinity)

1 / 0 = +∞ or -∞

2 /0 = +∞ or -∞

we can say 0 / 0 = ∞

• Again, another analogy,

1 / 1 = 1

2/2 = 1

we can say, 0/0 = 1

Now, you see it’s confusing. Every analog is mathematically correct then which one is the right answer for 0/0.  Therefore Mathematics can’t determine this fact.

So, 0/0 is indeterminate.
